The Ewell (B)Log - It's New Orleans!

It is now official. The 2010 National LCMS Youth Gathering will be held in New Orleans, LA, July 17-21, 2010 as many of us had figured. This will mark the third time that this event has been held in New Orleans. The 2007 NYG was to be held in New Orleans but was moved to Orlando, FL in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

LCMS Youth Ministry has conducted multiple site visits to New Orleans since Katrina, meeting with city officials, police, the New Orleans Convention and Visitor's Bureau and the Southern District - LCMS. The decision to return to New Orleans is based upon those visits and the detailed information provided to the LCMS.

A web site that allows parents, congregations and others access to much of the information provided to LCMS Youth Ministry in the decision-making process went online October 1. This site is accessed via the Gathering web site at www.lcmsgathering.com. Thousands of LCMS youth and adults have already traveled to New Orleans over the past two years to assist in post-hurricane ministry efforts.

At this time, the English District plans to hold its 2010 District Youth Event in New Orleans as well. We will be blessed once again to have Cathy Taylor serve as our English District 2010 NYG/District Youth Event Coordinator. Registration for the 2010 Gathering will open online in October 2009.
