COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Recently we received a phone call from a young woman requesting worship times. Our pastor, briefly spoke with her and provided the information the young woman was looking for. Later that same evening, the young woman arrived and shared with us that she had lived in town for three years. She said that our pastor spoke with her mother several months ago, and shared the gospel with her. The young woman said she was raised Missouri Synod and felt a need to re-connect with God again.
Indeed God works in mysterious ways, sharing encouraging words of the Gospels, which are passed on from one family member to another. In this instance, the young woman, a new guest at our church was warmly welcomed during our Lenten Soup Supper, and also by members before and after the evening worship service. She was thankful that kind words were shared with her mother, and will be worshiping God again here on Sunday.
OUTREACH TO FRIENDS
Several months ago, some members of Christ Lutheran again invited some friends to church.... friends whom they have been working on for about three years. The friends agreed to come to church again with them, but were skeptical because the church didn't feel alive, just ho-hum.
The friends arrived and were amazed at the change in the atmosphere of the congregation. They said everyone was so friendly, so welcoming, so caring. They said that this church is alive now, and asked what had changed. The members and the pastor shared with them that this Mission Plant church had
called it's very own pastor, were being led to a new sense of purpose. To be caring for people around us. To welcoming others, caring for their needs, showing Jesus love for them. Since that exciting day, the family have become active members, the wife volunteering serving on a church committee, and bringing her pastor to see the rest of her family, and bringing them to church on occasion. She has a strong desire to have a new grand-child and has shared the Gospel with a step-son who will be baptized soon. Through one invitation, and some perseverance, one family was brought back to Jesus, who in turn are bringing some of their family members closer to Jesus too.
