Great Commission Story
Scott didn’t have much of a church background growing up. His parents never really went and he really didn’t think that he needed God in his life. Anton, an Epic member, had been friends with Scott since high school, but their paths separated in college. Anton knew firsthand what it was like to live a life without God. He didn’t go to church growing up, but in college he met some Christians and by the power of the Holy Spirit became a follower in Christ.
Anton began praying for Scott and inviting him to church. Scott wasn’t very interested. When it came to Sunday that was his day to sleep in. After six months of inviting, Scott showed up one Sunday. Over the next few months, he got to know some of the other 20 somethings at Epic and decided to join a small group to find out more about Jesus. He discovered in the person of Christ, a Savior who died for him and a Lord who could give his life the purpose he had been searching for. After a couple months, the guy who couldn’t get up on Sunday began to show up at 7:30 to help set up church in the movie theater.
But the story didn’t end there. Scott invited his mom and his sister to come to church. Neither went to church, but saw a change in Scott that was worth investigating. They had to check it out. They came and after few visits their husbands came along. They all met the same loving Savior that Scott met a few months back.
But the story didn’t end there. Both Scott’s mom and sister invited other friends and family that didn’t go to church to come to Epic. Now, through the power of one invitation, there are 15 people coming on Sundays. They are all getting to know the Good News of Jesus Christ and discovering their role in God’s epic story in this world.
