A recent issue of Nancy's Notions catalog offered a free pattern to make a dress for a Little Dresses for Africa which is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to distribute dresses to little girls in remote villages of Africa. The ladies at Peace, New Berlin, WI shared the pattern and headed to their stash of fabric to create the dresses. They encouraged young girls to help with this project, offering to teach them to sew during their summer vacation. A sewing room was set up in the library at church and nine young people learned to joyfully serve others and create a dress for the little girls of Africa. The result was more than 100 dresses that will be delivered to Nancy's Notions and from there sent free of charge to the needy girls of Africa. Over 65,000 dresses have been delivered by Little Dresses for Africa through orphanages in 14 countries in Africa.
