Members of St. Michael and Emmanuel Lutheran Churches, Fort Wayne, Indiana, traveled to Kingston, Jamaica, amidst the violence and civil upheaval to partner with Food for the Poor from June 13-18. They did many things on their pilgrimage including feeding the poor and visiting orphanages, nursing homes and the surrounding communities. However, the main project was the building of a school. Five years ago, a high school student, Claire Brackmann, started raising funds through Concordia Lutheran High School. The St. Michael Sunday School offerings and members continued with the fundraising effort and additional financial assistance was provided by brothers and sisters at Redeemer Lutheran in Fort Collins, Colorado.
