Romans 8: 28 – 39
Some you have heard my “life story”. It’s nothing extremely exciting, but it is filled with times of great success, descents into failure and climbing back up again, stories of car crashes, physical problems, career changes, hurting people, being hurt, and lots of wasted opportunities.
During those “down” times, particularly an extreme one, I had several coping mechanisms to help me deal with it. Of course, my faith was one of those. In fact, it was really the only thing that truly helped me.
One Bible verse really stuck with me. Romans 8: 28. Please read it again right now. God told me this in that verse: “It’s gonna be ok.” Even though I was making a mess of my life, things were going to get better, and God was going to work it out. “It’s gonna be ok” I so clearly recall hearing.
And I truly believed it. Yes, things did get better. And yes, I do believe that God did work things out. There’s no other way to explain it! He took what I had messed up and made good out of it. I can honestly look back now, and see the hand of God at work to bring me to my life situation today.
I think it is reasonably safe to say, that difficult times are going to come into your life as well. Maybe they already have, or are now. Let me encourage you with this same verse that things will get better. It’s gonna be ok!! God will work it out.
No matter how bad things seem, or how much you have messed your life up, God can and will make something great out of it still. Pray for the ability to trust God to work things out in your life, especially when times are difficult.
