Speaking of Cornerstone, it is put on by a Christian Community called Jesus People U.S.A. (JPUSA). They are located in Chicago, serving many needy people in many ways in the Uptown section, north of downtown, where they together communally. They have an incredible ministry there that God works wonderfully through. It is very easy to equate the word “service” with the Jesus People.
If you’ve ever been to Cornerstone, you know what I mean by their service.
Simply watch the guys taking out the trash at the festival and that should be picture enough!
In Chicago, they provide meals every day for homeless and low income people, offer low cost housing for elderly folks among many other things. So many of their bands have traveled extensively and ministered.
I honestly don’t think that I have encountered people more genuine about their faith than those in JPUSA.
Let’s focus prayer today for the folks of JPUSA:
-Thank God for the services they provide, not just at Cornerstone, but also in their everyday ministry life in Chicago.
- Pray for Cornerstone Fest. Ask for sufficient funds to keep it happening.
- Pray for their effectiveness in Uptown in ministry to homeless, addicted, unsaved people.
- Pray for the spiritual welfare of the Jesus People, that they remain strong and cared for as they endure the stress of caring for others.
- Pray for the ministry of their musicians: Ballydowse, The Blamed, Headnoise, Seeds, The Crossing, Rez Band, Glenn Kaiser Band and any that I missed…
- Pray for the Cornerstone Fest. Pray for the people who work on it all year with ticket sales, schedules, security, advertising, web site, planning the games, volunteers, logistics, fund raising, site improvements, tents, and PA’s.
